KYULILITS ON BOARD
Last September 8, 2012, LPU UNICEF Volunteers held its Kyulilits On Board at the Gawad Kalinga Site from 1:00PM until 5:00PM.
At 1:00PM the Volunteers met at Gate 1, the meeting place at the University. At 2:00PM, the Volunteers proceeded to the Gawad Kalinga Site in Baseco. Upon the Volunteer’s arrival at 2:30PM at the GK Site, they immediately prepared for the program – paraphernalia, visual aids, and designs.
30 kids were expected but more than 50 kids came and were accommodated. The program was started by the registration and an opening prayer. It was followed by the introduction of the Volunteers. Afterwards, the children were divided into 4 groups. 2 Volunteers were assigned in each group and was asked to make a cheer.
Interactive discussions on values, nationalism and hygiene were done. Adjustments were made for the children to easily understand the lessons that was imparted which gave way to better responses. Snacks were provided after the long discussions. In singing songs and dancing together the children and the Volunteers spent time with each other.
Afterwards, the children were asked to evaluate the program and the Volunteers. They were asked to rate through drawing happy faces. 3 happy faces dominated the evaluation which meant that they enjoyed the activity very much. A hygiene kit including a toothbrush and a toothpaste was given to the children.
Mr. Genesis Brillantes, one of the LPU UNICEF Advisers, delivered a speech to close the program. After the program, group pictures were taken. As a whole, all lined up activities for the event was accomplished thus a very productive event was achieved.
